AWW & WEA 2010 SPOUSE PROGRAMIt’s On at Oaklawn - Ready, Set….They’re Off!
The 79th AWW&WEA Conference will be held again at the Hot Springs Convention Center. This will be a history making year with the first female Conference Chair and the first male Spouse Committee Chair. I would like to personally take this opportunity to invite all spouses to come and participate in the Spouse Program. You will definitely see familiar faces of people you have come to know and love throughout the years as we have become like family. This year, although racing season is over, we will be visiting beautiful Oaklawn Park. This race track has been a historical landmark of Hot Springs since February 1905, and has endured to its present status in the horse racing world today. We will take a tour and learn the history of the track as well as a little regarding horse racing from personnel of Oaklawn. Lunch will be served on site and for those who are ready for Bingo, you will be returning to the convention center to participate in the enduring tradition of the conference. Anyone wishing to stay at the race track will have the opportunity to hear an Oaklawn gaming representative conduct a presentation on the electronic games offered onsite. Then you are free to try your luck for the rest of the afternoon in reserved spaces.Tuesday morning we have a nice brunch scheduled, followed by Bingo games until the prizes are all gone. Who knows what else might happen. I am willing to bet we will have a lot of fun and there will be lots of prizes to win. So please sign up early and come join us at the Spouse Program for the 79th AWW&WEA Conference. Don’t forget to R.S.V.P. for the Monday Spouse Program and Luncheon when your register!

This year’s state contest will consist of the following three events: Collection System, Treatment Process, and Laboratory. The scores achieved in the above events will be combined to give an overall score for the competition. The team with the lowest combined score will be the 2010 State Champion and have the ability to choose from one of following three options:Option 1: A cash prize split between the two competitors from the winning team.Option 2: Funding applied toward the two competitors’ full registration and trip expenses to attend the WEFTEC conference to be held October 2-6, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana.Option 3: Funding applied toward a four man team, representing the winning organization, to attend and compete in the 2010 WEFTEC Operations Challenge. The three events have been redesigned to reduce the amount of monetary investment required for practice equipment and to enable the two individuals to prepare separate of the other. Multiple teams from the same organization are welcomed. If you are interested and would like more specific details, please Eric Wassell at eric.wassell@lrwu.com or 501-688-1536.
